Duo Amadé, Salzburg plays Austrian & French Composers

March 16, 2018 @ 19:30 - 21:00

€15
EXCLUSIVE CONCERT featuring Monika Kammerlander – the long-standing CONCERTMASTER (LEADER) of the prestigious MOZARTEUM ORCHESTRA, Salzburg, together with Gerda Guttenburg – pianist and piano professor from the Mozarteum University, Salzburg. This is a unique and rare opportunity to hear masterpieces of classical music being played in the authentic Austrian tradition, right on our doorstep – in the medieval city of Mdina. The programme (see below) is a very rich one, including three sonatas for violin and piano by Mozart, Debussy and Schubert, and other beautiful pieces which are sure to dazzle the audience.

Violinist Monika Kammerlander has led the world-famous Mozarteum Orchestra for more than two decades, playing concerts all over the world (the Mozarteum Orchestra was founded by the wife and the sons of Mozart). She has also led various other chamber groups such as I Salionieri and is a founding member of the ‘Maria Anna Mozart Gesselchaft’ – a society which performs and promotes music of female composers.

Pianist Gerda Guttenburg began her career at a very young age. At nine years of age she performed a Mozart concerto for piano and orchestra at the Great Hall of the Mozarteum and at ten years of age, she played a piano concerto by Haydn in the same hall. She has performed and accompanied in many top-class festivals and competitions, and accompanied masterclasses of famous musicians such as Shmuel Ashkenasi, Ivry Gitlis, Clemens Hagen, David Oistrach and many others.

Historic Piano Concerts offers a unique classical music experience through the combination of top musicians; one of the most inspiring and authentic-sounding pianos on the island – a historic A.D. 1890 Blüthner piano; and a stunning venue – the Cathedral Museum, in the heart of Malta’s medieval city of Mdina.

The main halls of the museum will be open throughout the evening and patrons will be welcome to walk around and enjoy the Art.

Wine will be served after the concert with compliments of Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker Ltd.
