The Cathedral Chapter will be celebrating the 50th anniversary since the opening of the Cathedral Archives and of the Cathedral Museum following their transfer to the baroque palace of the Old Seminary at Mdina.

The Cathedral Archives were officially opened for public research for the first time on 1st January 1968 whereas the setting of the Cathedral Museum was completed and opened on 4th January 1969.

There is a vast programme of cultural activities taking place throughout the year 2018, ending in early 2019.

This includes a Thanksgiving Mass, a documentary exhibition of 50 documents from the Cathedral Archives, two art exhibitions namely the Mdina Biennale and a Crib exhibition, a Conference on Archives in Malta, a Baroque Dinner as a fundraising activity, a postal commemorative issue, several publications including the Acts of the Archives Conference, a book on the Dürer Collection and another book on the 15 silver statues of the Apostolato.

Projected also are the installation of a new library in the Cathedral Archives and the inauguration of the restored choir stalls, the restored dome of the Old Seminary Chapel, and hopefully the Sala Nobile of the Cathedral Museum.
